How to Apply
Thank you for your interest in employment with Davis County Government. The Office of Personnel Management posts job announcements for all merit positions. Complete job descriptions and related salary information are available by referring to the specific internet job posting.
In order to obtain the information necessary to evaluate applicants’ qualifications, applicants are required to complete an Official Davis County Employment
Application for all positions including full-time, part-time, temporary, and seasonal. A completed application is used to determine if an applicant meets the minimum qualifications for a position, so it is very important the application is complete and the requested detail is provided. In addition, it is important that applicants state their qualifications fully and in a clear manner. Resumes submitted without an application will not be considered for any position.
If a job posting has a specific closing date, applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on the posted closing date. Applications that are mailed and are postmarked on or before the closing date will be accepted. However, the Personnel Office may begin the selection process immediately after the closing date and is not obligated to delay the process due to mailed applications.
For most positions, Davis County accepts applications only when a vacancy exists and a new hiring register is being developed for a specific job classification. A hiring register may remain in effect for a period up to one year. During that time, it may be used to fill additional vacancies as they occur.
For other positions, applications are accepted on a continuous recruitment basis. This means applications are accepted at any time even though a vacancy may not exist. Qualified applicants are placed on hiring registers and considered for employment as vacancies occur. Applications on continuous
recruitment registers remain active until the registers are exhausted or for a period up to one year. Applicants are responsible for notifying the Personnel Office of any changes in their addresses or phone numbers.
In addition to the Davis County Employment Application, applicants may be required to submit additional documents
with their applications depending on the position. The following is a list of required documents:
• A college transcript is required for any position requiring a college degree or college coursework. If a degree is required, the transcript must be complete, and it must show the date of the degree and the field of study. Credit for education will not be given without the appropriate documentation. Applicants who wish to receive credit for any post-high school training (i.e., technical training, vocational training, trade school, etc.) are also required to submit appropriate documentation such as a transcript, certificate, or other official documentation from the training institution.
• A copy of the required license or certification is required for any position that requires a specific license or certification. Without the appropriate documentation, credit for the license or certification will not be given.
• A type test certification is required for any position that requires a minimum type speed. The type test must be taken in the Personnel Office and must be dated within the last 12 months. The type test is offered between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on weekdays. No appointment is necessary.
• A Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) and proof of auto insurance are required for any position that requires on-the-job driving. To find out if a position requires on-the-job driving, applicants can refer to the “Important Information” section on the job announcement or call the Personnel Office. Applicants with a Utah Driver License can request an MVR through the Davis County Personnel Office by completing the Applicant Driving
History (page 4 of the application). Applicants can also visit the Utah Driver License Division to request an MVR.
• Form DD214 certifying honorable veteran status is required for applicants who wish to claim veteran preference. To claim disabled veteran preference, applicants must also submit a letter of verification from the Veteran’s Administration dated within the last 90 days.
Davis County is a drug-free workplace. All successful applicants for positions with the County must successfully pass a drug screen prior to employment.
Davis County is an equal employment opportunity employer. Everyone who meets the minimum position qualifications will have the same opportunity for employment consideration. No application will be rejected because of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, or disability.
